Mestre Monteiro: the 92 years of a professor

Today, Raimundo Monteiro de Souza, Mestre Monteiro, turns 92 years old. He arrived to the União do Vegetal on September 4th, 1966, and received the Star of Mestre from the hands of Mestre José Gabriel da Costa on June 11th, 1969. When he arrived to the UDV, he was presented as “Professor Raimundo”. At that time, Mestre Gabriel would later say to Mestre Pequenina: “let’s take good care of this professor because he will be an important man for the União do Vegetal”.

And indeed, ever since Professor Raimundo arrived, he has proved himself a true guardian of the teachings and the Work of the Mestre, receiving from Mestre Gabriel himself the title of Oriental Counselor in the União do Vegetal. He has been present at many important moments in the history of the Beneficent Spiritist Center União do Vegetal – being a dedicated disciple, a steadfast friend and an ever-present brother.
After Mestre Gabriel disincarnated, on September 24th, 1971, Mestre Monteiro was the UDV’s first General Representative Mestre, a role that he has occupied more than three times over the years.

Among the many texts that the UDV Blog has about this highly respected man, Mestre Monteiro, we highlight a part of one of them, written by M. Almir Nahas (Cadre of Mestres of Núcleo Menino Galante, Mairiporã-SP, 3rd Region) published in 2022:

“A man with a sincere smile and a friendly presence, Mestre Monteiro reveals himself to be a skillful builder of Peace and Reconciliation, always ready to teach and guide those who wish to follow the Path of the Mestre—whether newcomers or long-time followers.

How many of us have received, through his words, the comfort, clarity, and guidance necessary to overcome difficulties; how many have been captivated by his brotherly heart and supported by his helping hand? How many were gifted with precious words contained in his letters—in which we can discern the presence of the UDV’s Oriental Counselor?”

In the same way written by Mestre Almir Nahas, we wish that: “his days among us may be many, brining joy to his family and to all of us. And may this good friend receive all the honors he deserves. Thank you very much for your very impactful presence in our lives, Mestre Monteiro.”.
